Don't Look Away
Homelessness seems to be epidemic in one of the most riches countries in the world. We all have our stories and our struggles, some it seems we are more compassionate with, while others we walk by with a judging nod. I don't know this mans struggles, or what he must feel, but I find it harder and harder to walk by without my heart breaking. Maybe next time your nod is one of compassion. Maybe next time you might be able to help if even just a little.

Scenic Airways
Scenic Airways was the first commercial air tours of the Grand Canyon. Their first paying sightseers were in April of 1928. Investors included Henry Ford who's AT4's and AT5's were bought to use in tours. Other famous visitors included Charles Lindbergh. Scenic Airways succumbed to the Great Depression, followed by Grand Canyon Air Lines reopening the Red Butte airport in 1931. The airport has long since been closed with the new Grand Canyon National Park Airport being built several miles away
A Place of Rest
Mission San Carlos Borromeo del rio Carmelo, or Carmel Mission, is a Roman Catholic mission church in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California. Carmel Mission was founded in 1770 and is a NPS National Historic Landmark. Restoration has been on going since 1884. The Spirit of this church can be felt the second your feet touch its grounds.
Little White Church
The historic Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church, a Danish Lutheran Church, was relocated from Hampton, Nebraska to Grand Island, Nebraska's Stuhr Museum. Built in 1888 it was home to chapel services, prayer meetings, funerals, weddings and numerous social functions in its day.
Never Forget
Across the street from where the Twin Towers once stood, Trinity Church served as a resting place for first responders in the 9/11 terrorist attack. When we visited Trinity Church, this particular display really hit home. You can almost see the fireman slumped asleep from sheer exhaustion still wearing his protective gear. Always, always remember our first responders and military personnel who often times pay the ultimate price to keep us safe.

A cell block at the Yuma Territorial Prison, in Yuma, Arizona. According to YTP's website, "a total of 3,069 prisoners, including 29 women, lived within the walls during the prison's 33 years of operation." It later housed one of the first public libraries in the territory, was the home to a high school for approximately 4 years, and sheltered many homeless during the Great Depression.
"Imagine all the people living life in peace".....hard to not stop and think of this when walking through Central Park's Strawberry Fields. Was it peace, atheism, possibly socialism John was speaking of? He definitely left too soon with words unsaid and work undone.
In the foreground is Trinity Church Cemetery. In the background is Freedom Tower rising from the ashes of one the most devastating events in US history. To me this photo is a representation of how life does go on. Progress has a way of moving us forward.
My husband and I spend a great amount of time in the outdoors, exploring what Mother Nature has to offer. These planks were a bridge we crossed while hiking up to Flat Iron in the Superstition Wilderness in Arizona. The bridge was a gentle reminder to take care of Mother Nature and to protect Her to the best of your ability.
