Scenic Airways was the first commercial air tours of the Grand Canyon. Their first paying sightseers were in April of 1928. Investors included Henry Ford who's AT4's and AT5's were bought to use in tours. Other famous visitors included Charles Lindbergh. Scenic Airways succumbed to the Great Depression, followed by Grand Canyon Air Lines reopening the Red Butte airport in 1931. The airport has long since been closed with the new Grand Canyon National Park Airport being built several miles away
